Milecastle Housing Ltd is a not for profit local housing company which purchased 3,500 homes from Tynedale Council in December 1999.

The benefits to tenants of the transfer, over the next 5 years, include rents that will not increase by more than 1% above inflation, and £12.5 million (excluding VAT) to be spent on improvements and planned maintenance works. In addition approximately 250 new homes will be created over the next 5 years, in areas of Tynedale where a proven need has been identified.
