  • Designation of Conservation Areas

The Council investigates unauthorised building work or alleged breaches of planning permission. Unauthorised works causing harm should be reported in writing to the Planning Department.

Consent is required for work on trees covered by Conservation Areas or Tree Preservation orders. It is advisable to contact the Council prior to starting work on any trees to find out if they are protected. Advice is available on the Designation of TPO's. It is an offence to top, lop, fell or damage a protected tree without obtaining consent.

Note: This service does not cover that part of the district within the National Park.
