Our strategic aims

We share our vision with the Tynedale Local Strategic Partnership:

'Working together to improve the quality of life in Tynedale'.

We have four corporate aims behind our vision.

1. Improving our economy

We aim to:
  1. help provide secure employment and create quality jobs;
  2. support and promote co-ordinated, high quality lifelong learning opportunities;
  3. encourage local trading and promote new businesses;
  4. Promote and develop Tynedale as a place tourists want to visit; and
  5. promote and improve communication links.
2. Strengthening our communities

We aim to:
  1. create better access to, and promote greater use of, local facilities and services;
  2. make sure there is a suitable range of housing available to meet the needs of all members of the community;
  3. promote the improvement of the health, wellbeing and care of local people;
  4. provide a wide range of good-quality, affordable and accessible leisure and culture opportunities;
  5. help all individuals or groups have the opportunity to take a full part in their communities; and
  6. create a safer environment for everyone.
3. Protecting our environment

We aim to:
  1. reduce the damaging effect people have on the environment;
  2. protect and improve our heritage, landscape and wildlife; and
  3. maintain and improve the character and quality of towns and villages.
4. Delivering excellent corporate performance

We aim to:
  1. lead the community by working with our partners to develop a shared vision and by using our resources and efforts to achieve this vision;
  2. use 'best value' to improve our services;
  3. make clear decisions in good time in a fair way, and encourage local involvement;
  4. support new ideas when delivering services and motivate all staff to achieve the best possible outcome; and
  5. make all our aims, priorities and targets clear in all our plans, and use these to improve performance.
