Tynedale, in Northumberland, is the largest district council area in England. Its major towns include Hexham - a market town, Prudhoe - a growing industrial town, and the former mining town of Haltwhistle. There are commuter settlements within easy reach of Tyneside, parishes where forestry dominates and truly remote agricultural areas.
Tynedale contains much of the spectacular Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site and other areas of outstanding natural beauty, including large parts of the Northumberland National Park, the North Pennines, Kielder Forest (one of the largest forests in th UK) and Kielder Water (the largest man-made lake in Northern Europe).
