Beacon Council

Tynedale sets a shining example

Tynedale Council has now achieved 'Beacon Council' status for two areas of its work.

The council is now officially a shining beacon for 'Promoting Sustainable Tourism' in the district. The Beacon award was one of only six presented to councils in the UK in this category, for 2004-2005.

It's the second time Tynedale Council has been recognised for its good practice. In 2003-2004 it received Beacon Council status for its work in 'Supporting the Rural Economy'.
